Ferries
arrive at the end of the Spit from Seldovia, Kodiak and Seward. Homer Stage
Lines (phone 907/235-2252) runs a daily bus service between Anchorage and
Homer for $45 each way.
Most hotels, restaurants and shops are in town, while almost all of
the fishing charter and tour operators can be found along the twee
boardwalks of the Spit.
In summer, the infrequent Homer Trolley links the two, though it may
be quicker to hitch or rent a mountain bike from Homer Saw & Cycle,
1532 Ocean Drive (phone 907/235-8406; $25 per day). The main
visitor center is at 135 Sterling Hwy (summer Mon-Fri 9am-8pm,
Sat & Sun 10am-6pm; phone 907/235-7740).
